A team of 20 divers from Southampton Diving Academy travelled to Leeds to compete in the G-Star Championships and came back with 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 2 Bronze medals. Top of the medal table on the Southampton team was Chris Farrow (17) who took gold on Tower and 3m as well as Silver on 1m. Chris had some stiff competition from experienced GB divers. Chris managed to keep his nerve in the knock-out finals where the weakest diver of the round is eliminated. Team mate Georgie Wingrove aged 13, also took Gold on tower, Silver on 3m and completed the full set with a Bronze on 1m. Having gone into the finals of both springboard competitions out of the medals she remained focused and dived consistently well to get onto the podium in both events. Jaimee Gundry and Lauren Grinstead both aged 15, competing in the event for the first time pushed their team mate all the way on tower, both girls made the Final with Jaimee diving the more consistently where she won a Silver medal. Sarah White (11) dived very well in the girls group C tower competition where she won a Bronze medal. Head Coach for the meet, Chris Gravestock was extremely happy with the divers' successes. "This is meet is always a challenge for our divers," he explained. "there were entries from the top divers from all the top clubs in the country including old and current GB divers, even to make a final is quite a feat. I am delighted that our divers were rewarded with these medals and am looking forward to seeing how those of them who have qualified for British Junior Elite and the National Age Groups fare over the next couple of months".
