Media release for Southampton Diving Academy

OLYMPIC WELCOME HOME

Southampton Diving Academy took the opportunity to welcome its Olympic heroes home at a party held at the Testwood Hotel, Totton yesterday.

The club sent 3 divers and one coach to the Games, but Stacie Powell, who competed in both the individual and synchronised events on the 10m board has already jetted off to the USA, where she will be spending a year at Harvard completing her Physics degree.

Peter Waterfield (individual 10m), Blake Aldridge (synchronised 10m) and Lindsey Fraser, their coach, arrived in style in a stretch limo to be greeted by a crowd of excited club members, friends and family.

Also attending were the Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Parnell and his wife, Mary and the Chair of Totton and Eling Town Council, Cllr Chris Lagdon and his wife Jane.

After short speeches, the presentation of mementoes and the cutting of a cake everyone was treated to a hog roast generously provided by the Testwood Hotel.

Lindsey Fraser, speaking on behalf of all the Olympians, said "We really appreciate the club going to all this trouble to welcome us home. It made us feel very special. A big thanks to all who helped and especially to Testwood Hotel for the delicious hog roast!"
