A team of twenty seven divers who train with Southampton Diving Academy at the Quays, Eddie Read Swimming and Diving Complex travelled to Luton to compete in the twenty first Kingfisher Challenge on the 21st and 22nd November, returning with 20 medals and the team trophy. Taking three golds Olympian Blake Aldridge (26) on 1m and 3m springboards and in the pairs competition was the most successful diver of the team. Performing with great style Blake treated the spectators to diving of the highest quality. Taking three silvers behind team mate Blake Aldridge, Chris Mears (15) produced steady lists in all his three events, his consistency proving too much for the opposition. Diving in the youngest age group Lewys Oakley (10) did fantastically well to take two golds on 1m springboard and 5m platform. After finishing third in the 1m preliminaries, he took the opportunity of a clean slate to raise his game and come home with the title. Also diving in the youngest age group Chloe Pook (10) continued to dive consistently well to finish first in the preliminaries on the 5m platform and then to take gold by an impressive 30 points. Eleanor Phillips (11) showed tremendous courage by taking gold on the 1m springboard, despite hitting the 5m platform while attempting an inward one and a half somersault in the piked position during a competition earlier on in the day. Rounding up the team's haul of 7 gold medals Georgie Wingrove (12) took gold on 1m springboard against some very stiff opposition. Director of coaching, Lindsey Fraser was delighted with these results as they bode well for next year where these divers will all be hoping to compete at National events. Full individual results:
