Recreational and Novice divers took to the boards at the Quays Swimming and Diving Complex in the "Love to Dive Stage 2" competition to show their skills off against clubs from across the South of England, taking the team trophy and a clutch of medals. The competition, which was designed to allow divers at the grass roots of the sport to show off some of their most advanced skills, attracted a field of 60 competitors and resulted in some fierce competition. Top of the medal table for the Southampton club were Max Cott (9) and Liam Gibson (14) who took golds on springboard and highboard respectively. Leaving his best dive until the last round, Max clinched his title with a nice inward dive tucked from the 3m springboard. With a degree of difficulty of 1.4 the dive earned him 23.8 points, which gave him his medal with a clear margin over the rest of the field. Diving to a consistently high level throughout his highboard event Liam showed real flair with his inward dived tucked from the 5m platform, which attracted scores of 7.5's and 8 from the judges. He also put in a good set of dives in the springboard event, leaving him just 7 points short of a medal in 5th position. Brandon Parker (11) did well to take silver medals in both his events. Despite being one of the youngest competitors in his group on highboard he was just 5 points off the gold medal. Other silver medalists were Rosie Pope (16), Scott Palmer (9), Lewis Coleman-Smith (10) and Chris Lingard (15). Taking bronze medals were William Osborne (8), Lewis Coleman-Smith (10) and Lewis Brown (13). Coach, Louise Alderman, was impressed by the results. "I was delighted to see a real competitive spirit in our divers. The acquitted themselves very well against some worthy opposition", she explained. Full results:
