Media release for Southampton Diving Academy

NATIONAL AGE GROUPS

Nationals are coming to Southampton!

This Thursday diving teams from all over the country will begin to converge on the Quays Swimming and Diving Complex in preparation for the National Age Groups Championships to be held at the venue from 28th to 30th March.

Youngsters aged from 8 to 18 years, who have made the qualifying standards in designated meets, will have the opportunity to rank themselves against the best at their level across the UK.

Amongst the guests will be the Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Stephen Barnes-Andrews, who has been a staunch supporter of the sport throughout his term in office, attending every competition staged at the Quays and congratulating members of Southampton Diving Academy at their annual presentation evening where he awarded medals and trophies from 2007.

Director of coaching for the club, Lindsey Fraser, is looking forward to the weekend. "This is a great event for us to have in Southampton," she said. "It will be an important competition for many of our divers and it is a thrill for them to compete in front of a home crowd. We are hoping for some very good results this weekend."

Spectators are welcome and entry to the event is free.
