Diving teams from across England will converge on the Quays Swimming and Diving Complex this weekend to take part in the Southampton Invitational Diving Competition. Over 100 competitors are expected at one of the country’s biggest annual event for elite clubs, performing on 1m and 3m springboards and 5m, 7.5m and 10m platforms. There are events for divers aged from 8 years upwards and several members of GB international teams are entered. For many of the competitors there are important issues at stake as the event is an opportunity for some to make the qualifying standard to compete in the National Age Group finals to be held at the Quays on 28th – 30th March 2008. It is also a tracking event for the National Junior Talent programme, involving some of the top Junior Elite divers from across the country. The 3 day event kicks off at 9am on Saturday 20th October and will be completed by around 5pm on Monday 22nd October. Spectators are welcome and entry is free. |
