The Quays offers a wide selection of diving opportunities to children from the age of six, teenagers and adults of all ages.
Diving Tasters |
Southampton City Council offer children the opportunity to take part in a free half hour diving lesson at the Quays during July 2010.
Participating children should be aged between 6 and 13 years and will need to be able to swim at least 25m unaided and to be confident in deep water. Additionally, there will be two sessions for teenagers aged 14 - 17 years. Each session will last for 30 minutes and children will be taught in groups of up to 8 by qualified coaches from the Southampton Diving Academy. Every child who takes part in the scheme will receive a certificate of participation. It will provide underwater confidence, body awareness and develop skills for springing, preparing the diver to progress to advanced skills. These progressive Awards are designed to reward the young diver from preliminary, through to complex dives from the 3m springboard and 5m platform.
