Dear FOSDA members,

Welcome to the second FOSDA newsletter. There have been many changes since the last newsletter so this is a good opportunity to bring everyone up to date. In summary, FOSDA has been in existence for approximately two years and has organised various social events and many raffles. The social events have included three very successful Christmas parties, one Easter egg hunt and two picnics at the seaside. A Rogues Gallery of photographs from the picnic are at the end of the newsletter.

FOSDA has donated diving chamois as spot prizes at various diving competitions and equipment for the divers to use in the studio.

FOSDA's fund raising has been quite successful given the small numbers of committee members actively organising events. Ian Phillips (past chair) ran the London Marathon on behalf of FOSDA and Bliss (premature babies charity) and raised £553.50 for FOSDA. FOSDA now has a small society lottery license so look out for a spectacular summer prize draw. Preparation for this is well under way. To enhance fund raising FOSDA will be taking over the Diving Academy's 100 Club and hope to raise enough money to obtain charitable status.

As mentioned earlier, the committee has a new fresh look and have started planning the next FOSDA events.

FOSDA hope to organise the following events in 2009:

Easter egg hunt - Monday 13th April 2009 at Victoria Country Park.
Summer picnic - date and location to be confirmed.
Summer prize draw - to be confirmed
Christmas party - Monday 21st December 2009 at Stephen’s Dance Centre, Oakley Road, Southampton.

FOSDA will be organising raffles at all diving competitions at the Quays. We will be appealing for donations of prizes near to each event. Please see FOSDA notice board for details.
